What is the difference between a chest of drawers and a dresser?

When considering bedroom storage, you’ll likely come across both dressers and chests of drawers. There are a few key differences between the two that may help you decide between one or the other.
Chest of drawers
Chest of drawers come in a few different varieties, such as lowboys and tallboys. As their names suggest, lowboys are short and tallboys are tall.
Dressers
Dressers are typically wider than a chest of drawers and oftentimes come with a mirror that sits above the drawers.

Do all dressers have mirrors?

Not all dressers are made equal. Some have mirrors and others don’t. If you don’t have a need for a mirror in your bedroom, you may still opt for a dresser over a chest of drawers for its size and dimensions. The mirror component for a chest of drawers may also be removable, giving the item more versatility.

If you’re purchasing a dresser without a mirror from the onset, you may also find a cheaper price tag on your new furniture item, when compared to dressers with mirrors.

How do I pick the right dresser?

The perfect dresser is different in everyone’s eyes. These are a few considerations you should make on the way to finding what’s right for you:
-Size: Consider what size dresser will be most appropriate for your space. If you’ve got limited floor space, downsize to a smaller dresser.
-Drawers: How do you prefer to organise? Dressers typically have six drawers, but some models may come with up to ten if you’d prefer to keep things separated.
