Do oriental rugs have to match?
Whether or not your oriental rugs match will come down to where they’re placed in your home. If one rug is in the living room and the other in your office, it’s of less importance that the colours and patterns complement each other. If, however, both rugs will be in view at the same, it could be a good idea that they match in at least one way. For example, both rugs may be from the same range, but in different colours. Or, both rugs are tied together by the presence of white in each.
Can you mix oriental rugs in the same room?
Mixing oriental rugs can be quite the challenge, as it’s easy for too many patterns to look excessive. However, that’s not to say it’s not possible. Here are some things to keep in mind when mixing these rugs:1. Keep prints to scale:
If you’ve got one rug with a detailed print, make sure your other rug mimics this.2. Mute your other textiles:
With so many patterns on the floor, it’s important that your upholstery and cushions are more muted to not overwhelm the room.3. Ensure there’s a colour scheme:
Make sure there’s at least one common colour across both of your rugs. What patterns go well with oriental rugs?
When it comes to mixing and matching patterns, there are no hard-set rules. Some may prefer to match the scale of the print, and others may like the look of opposing scales. Oriental rugs can look great amongst both modern and traditional furnishings, meaning they can complement a wide range of patterns, including:-Stripes
-Houndstooth
-Plaid
-Paisley
-Floral
-Gingham
-Polkadot
-Tartan
-Chevron
-Argyle
-Herringbone
-Ikat
-Damask
-Trellis
-Fleur de Lis
