How do you flatten out kinks in a rug?
Got some unsightly dents or creases in your rug that you need to deal with? There are several easy methods to flatten out kinks in a rug, with each depending on the severity of the creases present.1. Reverse-roll the rug. This tried-and-true technique is an easy way to force the bent fibres of your rug to lay in the opposite direction.
2. Use heat or moisture to relax the fibres. Most rugs become more pliable with a bit of heat behind them, so you can lay your rug upside-down in the sun for a few hours as an easy fix. If you’ve got sharp creases, sometimes the natural way won’t cut it. We suggest heating the reverse of the kinked area with a hairdryer, then folding the crease in the opposite direction. Just remember to use low heat, keep the hairdryer a safe distance from the rug, and take it slow.
3. Flatten the rug by applying even and firm weight. Got a big rug? A mattress is a great flattening tool. You can weigh down curled-up corners with books or furniture. With this method, the key is patience – give it a week to really flatten out.
