How do you display cushions?

How many cushions you have will dictate how you display them on your couch. Here are some ideas:

-Two cushions:

Rest on each arm of the sofa or evenly spaced on the couch backrest.

-Three cushions:

Space them apart equally on the backrest of the couch.

-Four cushions:

Place two on either arm of the sofa and layer the other two in front of them.

-Five or more cushions:

Layer cushions in a symmetrical, evenly spaced fashion.

Should cushions on a sofa match?

Most people prefer a symmetrical look when it comes to couch cushions, as it helps the living room appear more organised. For this reason, many prefer to purchase their cushions in sets of two, so one goes on either side of the sofa.

Any additional cushions don’t necessarily need to match exactly, but should instead have a common design element. If that’s colour, you’ll have the freedom to play with cushions in different textures. For more ideas on how you can decorate your home, see our 20 Ideas to Decorate Your Home blog post.

How do you match cushions to a grey couch?

Grey is an incredibly versatile, neutral colour that pairs well with most other colours, making it a common sofa-colour choice for many households.

If your couch is grey, you should be less concerned with matching your cushions to your couch, and more concerned with them complementing the rest of your decor. For instance, if you have a red vase on your TV unit, consider cushions with a splash of red to tie the room together.
