How do I choose a bar stool style?

Picking the perfect style of bar stool for your home can be done in three easy steps:
1. Compliment your decor: Your bar stools can really tie your kitchen or dining room together, so it’s important that they match your overall decor. Read more about this in our Matching Barstools and Lighting blog post.
2. Consider comfort: Do you want your chair to be padded? Is it important that your bar stool has a backrest?
3. Think about colour: If you’re looking to add a little bit of flair to your room, adding a pop of colour through your bar stools could be a good option.

What size should bar stools be?

Choosing a bar stool the right size can prove challenging when you don’t know what to look out for. Generally speaking, benches are typically between 90cm and 1m tall. That means that your bar stool should be around 60-70cm high, allowing 30cm between the top of the stool and the countertop.

If your bar stool is any higher than these measurements, you might run into trouble getting on and off it.

Can you mix and match bar stools?

Bar stools can be mixed and matched to create a more visually interesting aesthetic. The one thing to keep in mind when doing this is to make sure your stools have at least one common element.

This can be colour, style, wood finish or upholstery. If, for example, you need three bar stools, you could purchase all three in the same model, just in different colours.
