What age is suitable?

The recommended age for the use of a bunk bed is 6 years old. Please note that sleeping on the upper bunk is not recommended for children under the age of 9 years old.

Do you need a special mattress and what is the mattress height recommendation?

Most bunk beds fit Australian standard size mattresses. The recommended mattress height for upper bunk is no more than 18cm for best safety results. We recommend the lower bunk mattress height to be no more than 25cm to maximise the headroom space. We typically recommend two suitable mattresses for purchase on most of our bunk bed product pages, one for the upper bunk and one for the lower bunk. Please refer to this as a guide.

Is there a weight limit?

We suggest up to 80kg for upper bunk and 100kg for lower bunk. Any bunks listed as 'commercial grade' will have a higher tolerance. Our 'Commercial Grade' bunk beds will hold up to 100kg for upper bunk and 120kg for lower bunk unless specified otherwise.
