What is a tallboy?

A tallboy is simply a chest of drawers that has a greater height than most other storage units. They’re perfect for those that have limited floor space, as they provide storage without requiring as much area as a dresser, for example.

Most tallboys have between four and six drawers, and come in a variety of colours, styles, shapes and materials. Much like any other chest of drawers, they usually have a flat surface on top, perfect for lamps or decor accents.

How big is a tallboy?

A tallboy is relatively narrow, with more height to compensate for the storage space lost. The size of tallboys vary based on the model, but they’re characteristically taller than they are wide.

In Australia, it’s common to see tallboys that are around 120cm in height, but this figure fluctuates with different styles. Its width is usually around 85cm, but that too can vary. If placed next to a queen bed, a tallboy will be less than half as long.
