What kind of cookware is best?
When it comes to choosing the right cookware for you, you’ll need to consider your personal circumstances. First, consider the type of stove you have. For some stovetops, such as induction cooktops, you’ll be best off choosing only induction-compatible pots and pans, and avoiding aluminum and copper.Next, you should think about what you’re most often cooking.
Steaks, for example, sear best on cast iron, whilst chicken prefers an aluminium frypan to help skin crisp up. Love to slow cook? A french oven or casserole may be up your alley, or opt for a saute pan if you’re going to cook meat and vegetables at the same time.
What is induction cookware?
Induction cookware is simply the pots and pans that are compatible with an induction cooktop. They’re required to be magnetic, as that’s how they receive heat. Most induction-compatible products will be listed as such.Induction cookware certainly comes with its advantages, in the form of both longevity and even cooking. As there’s no direct flame, your pots and pans won’t burn on the bottom. Not only that, but your food is likely to cook more evenly when compared to a gas stove.
What's the safest non-stick cookware?
It’s a common misconception that non-stick cookware is unsafe. In the early 2000s, it was discovered that Teflon, the coating on non-stick pans, contained a potentially toxic chemical called C8. However, the chemical was phased out in 2013.While very old non-stick cookware may still contain traces of this chemical, results are inconclusive as to whether ingesting it can cause serious harm. On the other hand, new non-stick pans are considered generally safe.
